Roomba 981 error 16
Spins both ways, backs up, gives error 16. Removed bumper and was clean. This is a very clean unit I bought that had error 11, left wheel that I have replaced. Error 11 disappeared. Bumper moves freely, but has no effect when tapped.

Hunting post with pictures of replacing bin contact.
I seem to remember a post here with pictures showing the fabrication and installation of a metal strip to replace a broken contact strip on the housing side of the bin opening for a 9xx or 8xx. The one that senses if the bin is installed.
Is anyone aware of this post?

Re: Roborock Consumer Warning (get an I7)
I've always thought it would be nice if an interchangeable bristle brush were available to add flexibility for different floor types. That and the strong suction would really pick up short pet hair.

Re: Roborock Consumer Warning (get an I7)
We use a 980 on our upstairs wood floors, but use 650's on our very low pile (bound commercial carpet) large downstairs area rugs. We found the bristle brushes are much more effective with short pet hair on our particular rugs.

When I put in battery, left wheel only starts running with no button pressed or lit.

Is there a software package to use with the cable/PC? (Something I need to know in case of future problems).vic7767 wrote:Prying the right rear molding off your 980 will reveal the SCI port (micro USB). A USB to micro USB cable is used to connect between the Roomba and your PC USB port.

Re: Roomba i7 - Tap the bumper to unstick, then press Clean
They can probably run it via the net, but you can't. If you can't access the test routines there's very little chance the average person could identify, much less self repair a problem. The units have become too expensive and too complex for me gamble upon their longevity when older ones, though la...

And joined the ranks of discard when out of warranty products. I stopped with the 980.vic7767 wrote:It would appear that with the introduction of the i7 and now the S9, iRobot removed the ability for user/owners to access the Built in Test firmware program.

Re: Braava Jet m6 Safe to Buy?
I just plan to monitor "evolution" and await something that better suits our needs. The 380t (w/cube) has no problems navigating around our numerous area rugs without walls or zones, but It would be nice to have one with a true clean/dirty water system.

Re: Braava Jet m6 Safe to Buy?
This is even further off topic, but: Consider comparing to the new design for mopping robot mechanisms exemplified by the iLife W400. From a review: The downside is that the W400 might not be able to clean all areas of your home, due to its simple pathfinding and obstacle avoidance skills, so you sh...

Re: Braava Jet m6 Safe to Buy?
I asked because I was curious why you are considering a change. Not saying you're wrong, just that I don't see how the M6 is a significant upgrade from a 380t as they share the same limitation: a single damp microfiber cloth that is not rinsed during operation. This is not changed by mapping vs navi...

Re: Braava Jet m6 Safe to Buy?
While we like our Braavas and use them regularly, I would imagine that, like the 380t, most M6's will end in closets (and then eBay) when new owners realize that they are automated maintenance Swiffers, not actual floor scrubbers. It doesn't really help that the thing can map and navigate a whole ho...

I'll postpone upgrading until there's an alternative to manually changing the pads.
