Re: Roomba 550
Your Roomba may have a defective D58.

Re: Roomba 550
A shorted D58 could very well cause the clean light to pulse red or amber. It is the most likely device failure to cause this.TechGuy wrote:Your Roomba may have a defective D58

Re: Roomba 550
Normally, Roomba blinks the Clean light in red or orange to indicate that it is in the high current charging mode.rifziyad wrote:thanks for your reply

The false charging state that Gordon was referring to in that thread is the "blinking red/orange clean light without plugging in your charger" This is exactly what your Roomba is doing.
Yesterday, I repaired a 530 with the same blinking red/orange clean light by replacing the D58.
Re: Roomba 550
just removed D58
still same. i did check diode with multimeter reading ok
i going to remove my working roomba and replace D58

Re: Roomba 550
The D58, which I took out from the blinking orange clean light, was checked with a multimeter and it seems fine. But its leaky current will keep the Roomba blinking orange clean light.rifziyad wrote:...

Re: Roomba 550
Removing D58 would stop the CLEAN button from pulsing if it were the problem. There may be another short.rifziyad wrote:just removed D58

Why?!i going to remove my working roomba and replace D58
Another reason the Roomba would think a charger is connected is Inverter U15 pin 10 is sourcing Sys_Rtn to the MCU.

Re: Roomba 550
I can't tell you what the MCU will read on a floating input.
One would have wanted to measure the voltage on pin 10 U15, 0V charger connected, 5V no charger connected.

Re: Roomba 550
The next step would be to verify 5V on pin 32 of U28 without charger. After that, I would check all the regulated power, 5V and 8V.

Re: Roomba 550
The 5V should be checked with an O-scope @ L1 where it connects to C287, LC filter. It should show very little ripple.

i have Rigol D1102E scope but i am not an expert on O-scope reading (still learning)
i will try to check and let you know in 30 minutes
