I am the original poster. I am using my Botvac rarely now because I am remodeling and there isn't a clear area to use it and I am afraid sheet rock dust could harm it. However, I have replaced the sealed bearings 3 times between the 2 Botvacs. Inspect it carefully when you clean it. The black was still there but I had to look carefully to see it had begun to separate. Not a big problem unless you don't catch it. They are cheap on the internet. They are the same as some of the hobby minature remote cars. The single sheet (seperate the 2 ply) of toilet paper over the filter still works great.

I bought 2 at the same time in 2015. Neato replaced both of them during the warranty period. I didn't use them for about 1.5 years. I fully charged the batteries and put them away. Amazingly, the batteries recharged in 6/2018. As of 7/16/2018, they are working fine. Still can't replace regular upright cleaner but it is good in between cleanings. Just can't get as close to objects as regular cleaner either. Gets stuck sometimes and needs rescue. I need to rearrange my furniture to fix that. Chairs legs are the worse. They are making about 6 foot sections instead of 12 foot, but it gets everything done. I will call about any software updates. I would buy them again.
