Samsung Powerbot VR9000
Model number: VR20H9050UW/EU
Symptoms: Powerbot is moving in circles, only one wheel is working, if you give it a push the other wheel works but with lower speed.
Cause: After disassembly the wheel motor appears to be stuck when you give it a push it runs but it heats up to the point it could burn your hand and it gives a plastic smell.
Resolution: Replace the motor with the necessary part after dismantling it.
Original part number: RS360-ST/13310/DV serial: SM00334924 Make in China.
Question:
I have found similar cheap motors online with the same part number and shape, but what is the original motor voltage and speed?

Thank you.

Re: Samsung Powerbot VR9000 wheel motor
It's not clear from your photo if the casing can be opened, but other makers robots (not 9000) have suffered from hair/debris fouling the bearings/impeding rotation and straining/heating the motor - a strip-down, clean/pressured air blow-out/oiling of the bearings might solve that.
You could maybe test motor voltage by measuring the voltage supplied to the other wheel when powering the robot? RPM? No idea. But the part number likely relates ONLY to the voltage/torque/RPM rating of THESE motors... something you could check by emailing the AliExpress supplier you have found. The helical-cut gear on the shaft is (I would think) quite specific to this motors application.

Re: Samsung Powerbot VR9000 wheel motor
The casing can be opened yes, stripped down to the tiniest gear, however it is clearly a motor problem, since i have tested it without the gear assembly and it failed. Possible problem cause from extra stress when getting stuck in corners on under tables.
However having the voltage right, the RPM should not be an issue if you order 2 motors and change both on the robot it will still go straight and turn as intended.
Will post more results. however if anyone has the correct voltage and RPM please share the information with us.
Thank you.

Re: Samsung Powerbot VR9000 wheel motor
It would take too much work to disassemble and measure the motors in the working Powerbot, but I can suggest how you can make the measurements with the one wheel that is working.
The motor is likely operated with PWM control (Pulse Width Modulation) of the power. The average voltage can be measured on the wires with a meter, trivial. It may then be possible to drive the motor at full speed with a straight DC voltage. The attached signal wires need to be analyzed with the robot running.
To run the robot rest on a book or blocks to get treads off the surface, with the wheel arms supported to keep them depressed as though on the floor; there is an extension sensor switch in it somewhere to stop when picked up off the floor. Taps onto the motor wires would be needed to measure with the robot assembled at least partly.
Use the Manual Mode, remote control cleaning forward button to activate the drive motors. I used this setup to measure the fan properties.
One of the wires is likely a tachometer signal to the cpu, but I do not know enough about those to interpret it, what ratio to the RPM.
To measure the RPM make some kind of paper wheel to fit on the shaft with blades to interrupt a light beam passing through. Mount an IR LED emitter and a phototransistor on opposite sides, and read the frequency of the interrupted beam signal with that scale on a multimeter. I did this for the brush having the vanes interrupt the beam, finding 900RPM (main 9000 series thread here).
Maybe you can find a way to close the extension sensor with the motor outside the robot so it can run as used in the robot.
However, the maximum RPM of the motor may be different than used for driving the robot. So how this can be translated into specs for a catalogue motor other than the specific make and model used by Samsung, I do not know.
There are few motors of the RS360 specification found on Aliexpress, Ebay, or Google, none with the specific suffix found, so I doubt the particular motor Samsung uses is available apart from special orders in large quantity to the maker. A wide variety of motors is made so they do not all show up at retail. You may have more success.

Such a great start to a thread that went absolutely no where.
Anyone have any additional information to add?
Would be helpful to so many Robots being able to swap these motors out.

Many Powerbot parts are at SamsungParts.com in the U.S. (shipping international), check with Samsung.com for references to parts dealers in other countries.

All good, I'll try find the motor elsewhere and use the existing gearbox.
I thought surely someone, somewhere has replaced a motor. Seems not.
Thanks

Motor replaced on 2 units, both left and right. All good - No C02 or C03 codes.
Easy repair.

Did you replace the entire motor assembly or did you find a suitable replacement for just the DC motor? Please share the details.
