I don't know why this little robot didn't get much love. Yes, it is very specialized. Yes, most of the time a blower or hose works just as good. BUT, under certain circumstances, this guy is a lifesaver (maybe literally).
We have a split level house with part of it being one story and the other 2-story. It has a steep pitch roof so walking on it is sketchy, especially two stories over a concrete driveway. You fall, you XXX
Solution? Send my Looj out from the second story deck where I can just reach the gutter. It makes its way slowly across the gutter, cleaning quite well. Some have said that it throws leaves back on the roof, but so does every high velocity cleaning technique.
Yes, I still to this day use two units at two houses. On one, I had to find an aftermarket battery. On the other, the battery is still going strong.
The real reason I posted: The cleaning head broke on one. No luck finding it anywhere. I rigged a repair that works just ok. What I really want to do is have the good head scanned and 3D printed. I'm going to shop around and see what there is to offer. Heck, maybe my local library has a printer.
Question: Does anyone know what type of plastic to use? Also, I have tried a couple different bristle types (cut off from sweeping implements) with varying success. So I am looking for a bristle that is stiff, but not brittle and that holds it's shape so it stays relatively straight. The brush is what really cleans the corners nicely and makes the gutter quite clean.
Yes, I know this is an old thread and probably no one has this robot still. But I wanted to shout out my like for the unit and say that YES, it DOES work...(for me at least)
I love my LOOJ!!!
Re: I love my LOOJ!!!
I picked one up this past summer off Ebay. Bought it mainly to add to my collection of Roombas and Scoobas. I do own a house where it might come in handy so I may try to get it running. I would guess the battery is dead, but I do have the remote and an intact cleaning head. They do turn up occasionally turn up on Ebay, so set up a search.
Can't have too many Scoobas
