D4 Drives Off Step

Post by neato20547893 »

My Neato D4 Connected consistently drives off a step to a living area. I have cleaned the drop sensors and replaced them with drop sensors I had from a parts D3 that I had available. The issue continues. Any suggestions on next steps to troubleshoot?

Welcome to Robotreviews!
Every neato I have ever used has had drop sensor issues. It’s just a common failure point on them. I did read something that if one fails it will cause issues with the whole drop system. I would be more help if I knew how to fix it but I’m sorry I don’t really know for stuff like that.

I think the Neato diagnostic tools Neato Toolio or Neato Control can report signals from the drop sensors and determine whether they are defective. But they are read by components on the system board which might have a defective part. Skilled technicians might be able to trace the signal from the sensors through to the cpu and possibly locate a defective part. Boards are not designed for component level repairs but as posted here some skilled people, often engineers, do so. Replacement boards are often listed on Ebay. The sensors themselves are standard components, actually the same as used for the wall sensor. Their output can be observed with a volt meter.
