Just to let everyone know, will post pics later, my new Discovery Pet does indeed have the new castor type front wheel.

Yes, you can see that also on the Irobot web site. What would be of great interest though is if it is retro-fittable into the "normal" discoveries...

I returned my Discovery and purchased a Discovery Scheduler yesterday from Costco on a tip from this group, because it has the new caster too.

Better yet, it's quieter, and best yet:

NO DOG HAIR WRAPPED AROUND THE NEW CASTER'S AXLE!!

So, I've gone from being unable to free dog hair from the front wheel, to not having to clean hair from the front wheel.

Now, I can LIVE with my Roomba.

It did a fabulous job too on its maiden voyage.

I'm very interested in hearing about the new brushes on the "for Pets" to see how "improved" they are in terms of after-cleaning cleaning, because they are compatible with other models and will ultimately be available as add-ons.

Looking forward to your pictures and comments.

You can??? Not when I look.

Looks like the standard OLD Discovery on the website (zoom and rotate pop-up). Nothing seen to distinguish it from the standard Discovery.

Where are YOU looking?

During the time when they had the red Dirt Dog pictures online - which now are corrected - the pictures of the Discovery for Pets showed the caster wheel.

BTW: now the pictures for the Dirt Dog show a damaged sidebrush. I wonder why it is so difficult to put the right pics online...

I'm considering the Roomba Sage for Pets. Has anyone gotten this? Does it also have the new front wheel? If not, do you know if the regular Roomba Sage models have the new front wheel?

In addition to BJV's question, have anyone found a way to determine from the box if the Roomba has the new front wheel?

In my chat with Roomba Tech Support, they said "no"; however, the one I picked up had new packaging, and the diagram on the back seemed to indicated the new caster, but more importantly, from the serial number, and a tip from this forum, I made sure I got one built from August, '06 onwards.

Still, I was pleased when I opened it up and and it did INDEED have the new caster.

Qooop Still waiting on those pics. Or just answer me this.. What makes this model different than the discovery model (besides the new front wheel) This so called easy clean brush. How is it different. Will if fit other roomba models or is it totally different. I called I robot and asked them the same questions , they said it had and extra brush. I doubt this. I am on the fence whether to buy the new black scheduler or this one. I Have 2 siberian huskeys that are year round shedders and one of them is a long hair. Need advice..

Post those pics if you get the chance. I am really interested in close ups of the new Pet brushes, since they should be available in a month or so as upgrades for the normal Discovery units. The front wheel is nice as well.

Well, I really want to see what those "for pets" brushes look like too, but at least now with the new caster, and several "missions" under its belt, I can state that life with the Rooma w/ caster wheel is a pleasure, whereas before, it was hell. The only remaining hard-to-clean of dog fur parts are the rubber roller's ends, but those aren't too, too hard to clean.

The caster is super easy to completely clean of my two golden retrievers' fur. Sometimes, there's nothing to clean at all, and other times, a few strands to tweeze off the axle, but it takes only a minute or two, and then the caster wheel is completely hair-free again.

The old wheel was completely uncleanable of the dogs' fur, no matter how long I spent, no matter which tools (and chemicals) I tried. It was so bad, I came close to giving up on owning a Roomba.

So, if the new "for pets" brushes are any kind of an improvement, then "WOW": A must-have for shedding doggie households, but even if they aren't that much of an improvement, life is now pretty good with Roomba.

I just got a Sage for Pets...it has the swiveling wheel....no problems with pet hair (Lab) so far. It comes with a internally barbed sleeve for combing the brush...you slide the brush through it.

so do you have the ability to show pics. do you have a normal roomba you can compare it to as to determine if the new brush will fit the regular roomba.

Thanks.

Do you still get hair caught in the ends of the rubber brush?

That's my biggest post-cleaning clean-up task. They wind around the spindles of the rubber brush.

Does the "for pets" address this via a design change?

A photo would elucidate this.

Thanks.

I am wanting to buy either a Discovery for Pets or a Sage for Pets but I want to make sure that it has the caster wheel. Do I then have to order it direct from iRobot to get the caster front wheel or is there another place I can purchase it from that I know will have the new front wheel?

So has anyone determined if the new brush and castor wheel for the Discovery Pet will fit in a regular Discovery? Are they available for purchase separately?

Thanks -
