Putting Roomba on Automatic Cleaning Schedule

Post by roomba231 »

Do you need to put your Roomba on an Automatic Schedule for Cleaning? All Roomba models do not have anyway to start it to clean automatically without manually pressing a button to start it. I also found it annoying to have to constantly avoiding it when it was cleaning when I was at home. I thought I would let you know it is now possible to put you Roomba on an unattended clean schedule with the Roomba Timer. You have the ability with this Roomba Timer to set any 3 start times during a 24 Hr period to start its cleaning cycle unattended when you are not home.

I bought the Roomba Timer 4 months ago and it works great. I set it to start cleaning at 2:00 am in the morning and I wake up to a clean house. I also have it start cleaning at 12:00 noon while I'm at work so I come home to a clean house.

Hope this information will help you get more out of your Roomba now or in the future.

I don't know it looks a little hokey. Does irobot endorse it?

No, this product is not endorsed by iRobot. It was originally designed to turn a television on and off at a specific time, but there is no reason that it couldn't work with the Roomba.

The above message was posted by the person selling the timer, not a consumer as he claims to be. While anyone may post links to deals in this forum, because of the obvious potential for abuse, we DO NOT allow people to advertise their own product websites.

The link above has been replaced with a link to the same item offered for sale at $6.99 (11.69 after shipping), instead of the $24.99 the original poster is selling it for.

Feel free to post links to the same or similar items if you find a better deal.

Craig

i don't know about this remote control to turn the roomba on several times a day.

it seems to me that you can not get past the requirement to push the power button then the max or clean button to start the roomba.

anyone have this device connected to a roomba ?

It's a learning remote, so it can send the IR signal from the roomba remote to the roomba, telling it to start at a certain time.

i think it would have to learn to do two things for the roomba to start.

first it would have to "learn" to push the power button on.

then it would have to "learn" to push either the clean or max button to start the roomba moving.

can it do that ?

I just tested with my remote, you can start a cleaning cycle just by hitting "clean" or "max". You don't need to use the power button, so if it can only learn one code then max should do it.

But it must be emptied!

Post by rttrek »

This is fine, but you'd better remember to empty it between each use, at least in *my* house.

Can you damage a Roomba by running it repeatedly with a full bin? Will the next Roomba be able to empty itself?

Hello,

The link doesn't work. Are there any other sources for this device?

Thanks, it's nice to hear that it's appreciated! Looks like Improvementscatalog.com sold out of them, but they are still widely available for much less than the $30 that the OP is now selling them for.

I updated the original link with another store that sells them for $10. Even after shipping it is still substantially less than what the OP is trying to sell them for.

You can most likely find it in your local mall or electronic stores for much less as well. Circuit City has it for $14, free shipping if you buy 2, so you can get 2 for less than the price the OP listed them at.

I try to be as fair as possible, and if someone posts a legitimately good deal that will help our board members then I will always let it stand. But I do draw the line when people try to use these forums for advertising something that they are selling. When your selling something, you usually won't be giving objective advice, you just want people to buy what your selling!

Here is a picture of the item so you know what to look for in your local store:
