It looks like the Roomba 580 is now available on iRobot's website.
Seems that they kept everything the same from the infomercial.
It is at a $499 price point with the extra brushes, filters, lighthouse, and faceplate.
I think a price point of $475 would be a bit more enticing. Especially since the $399 value from Hammacher will cover you on anything that goes bad/breaks... aka, brushes, filters, and lighthouses.
The only thing you might gain is the extra lighthouse and convenience of a different color faceplate... whoopie!

Well, I stand corrected then!mtl1958 wrote:I am an iRobot employee and I can tell you with certaintity that the 580 is selling quite well on the iRboto site--even outselling the 510, 530, 560 & 570,

So, iRobot is going after people who don't have a clue as to what is a good price/bargain. And yes, I do have a nasty taste in my mouth with iRobot on a few things. Love their products, hate on how they have handled a few things.

Just so I understand this right to get the 580 rather than the 570 you pay $100 more and you get the following:MTtummy385 wrote:The only thing you might gain is the extra lighthouse and convenience of a different color faceplate... whoopie!
1 Virtual Wall
3 Beater Brushes
3 Bristle Brushes
3 side Brushes
6 filters
I have discounted the silver faceplate as that has no functional purpose!
Now, do they tell you anywhere that you're not likely to need any of these extra brushes and filters?
I have never replaced even the filters on my 2 Roomba Reds and the brushes are doing just fine. You might just use some of the side brushes, but that would appear to be due to a design fault on the new Roombas rather than a normal use requirement.
So you're really paying $100 for a Virtual Wall, these people are being ripped off!!!!

Marymac, it depends on the type of flooring and amount of use you get with your robots. I agree with debugger, I have a 2.5 yld. Roomba Discovery with the same brushes but I have tile and laminated floors. Scooba and Dirt Dog may have a different story. My Scooba brushes may need replacement within a year (had it since JAN. 2006)
