Electrolux Trilobite Moisture Danger & Batterry Error

Post by poweranger »

Dear all,

I am a new user come from Hong Kong. I bought a Trilobite EL520A 4 months ago via ebay. It was working fine until few weeks ago. It shows "Moisture Danger" or "Battery Error" when I switch it on..

I tried to recharge it ..but it show battery error again..it almost out of battery now..

Anyone faced this problem before? is it the battery problem? anywhere I could purchase a new battery for it?

My last options is sent back to Electrolux US, but seemed really costly...

Cheers,
Sorry I can't help with the error. I purchased my Trilobite at Sam's Club, in US, via Internet.

It wouldn't start up and run for more than a few minutes right out of the box.

I called Electrolux and they paid for the shipping both ways. I think the repair shop was a third party and not a division owned or operated by Electrolux. As I remember, the E. CS had me label the box and then E. issued a pick up order to FedEx, who picked it up and attached the pre-prepared label. Within a few weeks it was back here working away. BTW.... all it needed was an internal vacuum hose replaced. The repair shop attached a small note indicating what repair they performed. That was a first for me. Lots of us wonder just what went wrong with our products and have no way to find out.

Isn't Electrolux a European Company? Did you purchase it in the US? I guess that would make a difference.

Sorry, I never have experienced that error on any of my three Trilobites. I would give Electrolux a call. I would think it would still be covered under warranty. The only thing that I have done to all three of mine was to put some lithium grease on the bearings of the beater bar so it would not squeal. That is all that I have had to do to any of mine. They are still working good for me so far.

You can go to the Electrolux site:

www.electrolux.com

service for Hong Kong

http://www.electrolux.com.hk/node57.asp

Choose your country and then choose Hong Kong. It will take a couple or three steps. Then choose contact us. They give a Hong Kong telephone number.

Thanks geekgranny, you are really kind.

Yes, I phoned Electrolux Hong Kong before, but they mentioned that HK model is not same as US's one (220v VS 110v) and they wondering if parts is available or not..Also warranty is not covered because I purchased from US not HK. habour and parts charge are needed.

Any other options availble?

Cheers,
Bummer. One option may be to search around friends to find someone who knows someone who travels frequently between the US and Hong Kong. My sister and her family lived in Hong Kong (and Seoul) for many years; he worked for an American based company. The whole family traveled frequently between US and HK as the three children finished last two years High School and then college in States and Sister kept a house in the US (they accumulated enough travel miles to take our whole family on frequent trips all over the world). During one period he was traveling to US and back to HK once a week or so but usually, regularly, made one trip between once a month.

I would think a business traveler would have less personal items to carry back and forth and may be likely to have some baggage space/weight to spare. The "girls" always traveled with HUGE luggage, mostly to bring things back for my Sister to give/sell or decorate her US home. Those probably aren't within standard size any more requiring oversize/overweight fees. My BIL, though, traveled with plenty of baggage space/weight to spare.

Is there any chance that you purchased this with a credit card that would back up the warranty?

poweranger,
This is an old topic, but just in case u happen to come on here again, Trilobite only comes in one model (according to the service staff at Electrolux here in Taipei.)ie, all parts n configurations are the same whether u buy it in Europe/States or anywhere else. So, u should be able to send it back to Electrolux hongkong for service, only, of course, without the warranty, u would probably have to pay for it.
