New Scooba Model Coming?

Post by Boomerang »

Will there be a new Scooba model coming soon? Anyone know?

From what I read, most complaints are for Battery Problems. I usually
see the 5800 mentioned but not the 380 model. They both seem to have the same battery but longer running times.

I'd love to add a Scooba to my iRobot Family but wonder if I should wait for the Battery Problem to be addressed by iRobot.

I'd like to see rubber wheels rather than the foam junk.

My Robots are:

Two Karcher RC3000 Robotic vacuums, & one funny retired Roomba Pink Ribbon named Pinkie (with broken brush) that wears a cape saying, "I don't do floors".

I didn't know they're foam. Do they cause a problem? Which Scooba do you have?

All the Scooba models out now have the foam wheels. That particular construction is to help the Scooba have traction on wet floors. Rubber wheels would not provide the traction needed to navigate around the floor.

"I didn't know they're foam. Do they cause a problem?"

Yes, they're made of foam.

Yes, they cause problems

-Scooba seems to be too heavy for them to handle during a mission

- keep flatening out on (the part sitting on the floor when Scooba is parked) thereby causing Scooba to move way too slowly & in an abrupt motion (in jerks)

I'm getting a Scooba caddy to store Scooba in.

"Rubber wheels would not provide the traction needed to navigate around the floor."

Why? They can't come up with a way to make proper rubber wheels "that work" for that Robot? I think they don't want to.

Crown Jewel

Post by bobnielson »

The Scooba is the Crown Jewel of iRobot. With just a minimum of effort it keeps your hard smooth surfaces clean. The battery will go for 2 missions between charges. If you use soft or mineral free water the plumbing and pump will last years. To use a scooba cup full of white vinegar and a few drops of liquid dish soap in the cup also will keep the need for the expensive scooba juice to a minimum. The scooba is worth the effort.

If you notice your wheels going flat in storage, prop the base up off the wheels. They will round back out and the scooba will run fine.
