I already own a Discovery (4210), but I'm thinking about upgrading to the Scheduler (4230).
From what I can tell, the Scheduler only adds scheduling (I know, duh!). But is the Roomba itself more powerful than the Discovery or have any other bells & whistles? It also looks like it doesn't include a remote - which is a must-have for me.
Also, can you manually turn the scheduler's virtual walls on & off or are they only able to be programmed?
Would I be better off buying the Scheduler by itself ($49.99) from iRobot?
Any differences between Scheduler and Discovery?
Re: Any differences between Scheduler and Discovery?
Just by the scheduler. The robot itself is identical. The package comes with 2 walls and they can be programmed and used manually.jaybird wrote:I already own a Discovery (4210), but I'm thinking about upgrading to the Scheduler (4230).

The 4230 does come with a remote that is actually better than the discovery remote but this same remote is included in the upgrade kit.

Can you manually steer the Roomba with that remote?timiny wrote:The 4230 does come with a remote that is actually better than the discovery remote but this same remote is included in the upgrade kit.

Yes you can steer it. All disco series roombas are mechanically the same. You can just buy the scheduler kit and you have practically the same thing as the scheduler. The only difference is that Scheduler are assured to have the 2.1 updates and all other depend on their 'birthdate' have them as well.

If your Red was made after October 2005 then you can program it with the Scheduler remote if not then you need to update the firmware. There are different ways to do so, one is buying the OSMO//hacker for your RED model or purchase the Scheduler package and update it with the cord it brings in which it will download the firmware from the scheduler remote if needed.
