iRobat Roomba 9 Self emptying Robat. This Robat is the easiest to use just set it up with a time to start and that’s all you have to do it does the rest. I got a Samsung for Christmas a couple years back and that thing never worked I replaced it 5 times until I just give up. This Robat is a beast

Self Emptying Roomba. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am no stranger to the wonder of Roombas. I have used a basic model religiously for years so I was super excited to see a self emptying model. The j9+ comes with the Roomba, base with pre-lined bin attached to the back, and a HEPA filter inside the Roomba bin. The first thing that you will want to do is connect the j9+ to wifi and let the roomba map your home. This will allow you to select areas to clean and set cleaning schedules on your iRobot app. The best feature about this is that you can send the roomba back to home base and tell it to empty itself. I like that the sound of this roomba is much quieter and less hateful than the OG, but the self emptying sound is as loud as a jet taking off. My home is not very large (or filthy), but the Roomba insists on emptying itself at least 4 times during the course of vacuuming my living room and kitchen. I think this is because the bin is pretty tiny. Prior to setting up the app, I was constantly being scolded by Roomba to “empty the bin” like it just didn’t feel like doing it on its own. This was quite annoying, but it seems like the app connectivity has solved this issue. I love the inclusion of a hepa filter for those of us with allergies and the idea behind this model, but I don’t feel it has been perfected for everyday use at its price point yet. This model absolutely requires a larger bin like the OG. I received this product in exchange for an honest review.

Super amazing Robot Vacuum. I love it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Roomba® j9+ Robot Vacuum is super great vacuum. It is good at picking up dirt. I love the features on the iRobot app for this model. I run the Roomba at least 6 days a week because I have one kitty and one dog, it does very well picking the hair up off the carpet and especially the hard floors. I only have to do my heavy duty vacuuming once a week. I can’t say how grateful I am to have this Roomba do cleaning floor for me and the bit of peace of mind knowing at least it’s getting done and done well.

Love it so much. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been using this for a month and I love it so much. I have mostly floor and just one rug in my house and it cleans very well. It goes to each and every corner and I love that it takes the picture when some hurdles come in its way, and I can just review them and resolve them from the app, another thing I love about it is self cleaning it just empty its dust bag and the suction bar is great. I am so impressed.

Best vacuum upgrade yet! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This has been the best vacuum upgrade yet! This has been a game changer when it comes to cleaning and any Roomba upgrade. One of the best features is the napping for areas in the house. Especially right now with the holidays you can tell your Roomba not to go near the Christmas tree or within a certain range of it so it doesn’t bump into any decorations. We use the Roomba almost every night once the day is done, and especially in the kitchen. We will tell the Roomba to come out, clean the kitchen and go back. It is definitely one of the most powerful Roomba that we have yet had in our house. The self emptying function is one of the best qualities of the Roomba j9. Although the self emptying function is quite loud it is worth it in the end. You can let the Roomba j9 clean the entire house without having to empty the basket each time it is full. You can leave the house and it can finish the entire cleaning job. I would highly recommend the Roomba j9 self emptying vacuum!

Good, but some issues. The robot cleans, well, but a large percentage of time it fails to finish cleaning. I think when it is low on power it doesn’t always return to the homebase and seems to get confused. Sometimes it actually cleans the room. There wasn’t designated in other time just stops. Maybe it will get better

I love my Roomba !!! Already want more. We have a white German shepherd and if you know you know . Our house is full of white fur that’s gets everywhere and is never ending. We had the Roomba I3 and decided to upgrade to the J9+ vacuum. WORTH IT !!!!! We have it run and now I feel like we have our house back . The self empty features is amazing !!! Beforehand I would have to empty it out several time on a clean because of all the fur. Now when it gets full it goes to the base and self empty and continues with the clean . I love my roomba and it makes me feel so much better coming home to a clean house and not having to worry to vacuum everyday .

My new freind. I replaced a 880 roomba with the J9+ vacumn and the difference is great! I like that it maps the whole house and then I can tell it to clean a room and it takes off and cleans that room then goes back to dock itself and emptys itself .

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! I upgraded to the J9 self emptying vacuum from a much older model. I LOVE this one so much and am so happy with my purchase. I love being able to choose a room or rooms to vacuum and what order I want to vacuuming them in. I also love that it self empties! We have 2 cats and a dog and it is doing a great job with the hair.

I purchased the most affordable Roomba model from 2013 and it has been working wonderfully, so I had high expectations for this newer version. Initially, it performed well for the first few months, but now, eight months in, it’s constantly encountering issues. It often gets “stuck” on the charging dock or in the middle of the floor. It displays a “bin full” message when it’s not, and claims it “can’t connect” due to “dirty” sensors, even though they’re clean. Despite my efforts to keep it maintained and to replace necessary parts, it never seems to be enough. This is by far the most finicky appliance I own. Eight out of ten times, I receive a notification saying it couldn’t operate due to some frustrating error. Additionally, the side sweeping brush stopped working two months ago, which means it leaves behind clumps of dog hair after each run. Customer service informed me that a new module is needed, and I’m still waiting for a response about it. I absolutely cannot recommend this product.

The j9+ is my second Roomba vacuum, following the j5+, and it seamlessly integrated into our home and the Roomba app. I have the j5+ managing the main floor, which consists mostly of hard surfaces, while the j9+ takes care of the second floor, primarily carpeted.
I’ve noticed that the j9+ has significantly stronger suction compared to the j5+, making it highly effective on medium and low pile carpets. It transitions effortlessly between carpeted areas and tiled bathrooms.
The Roomba navigates around furniture legs and my cat’s water dish without causing any spills.
Maintenance is straightforward and quick. After a few cleaning sessions, I had to remove the side brush to free a cat toy with a long yarn tail, and I found minimal carpet fibers tangled in the spinning brushes.
I really appreciate the app. It allows me to set up daily cleaning schedules timed to avoid our usual activities (the upstairs gets vacuumed while we’re preparing breakfast). I also organized the vacuuming order to minimize interruptions, even if we head back upstairs earlier than expected. Plus, I created Clean Zones and Stay Away zones, letting it operate independently.
I have no regrets about this purchase.

Having the iRoomba J9 in my two-cat apartment has been a game changer. With its app controls, scheduling features, and automatic map updates, it’s incredibly easy to use. As soon as I leave for the office, the Roomba springs into action according to my set schedule, ensuring I come home to a freshly vacuumed carpet every day.
On those days when I need to tackle a mess, it does an excellent job of cleaning up whatever I need. The battery life is impressive, allowing it to cover my entire space on a single charge with extra power to spare.
Its clean, sleek design fits seamlessly into any environment. Plus, the self-emptying dock with replaceable HEPA bags efficiently captures all the cat fur and dander, leaving no mess behind thanks to its powerful suction. This device has truly simplified keeping my home clean and effortless. I highly recommend the iRoomba J9 with self-emptying dock for anyone looking to maintain a tidy space for themselves and their furry friends!

I have owned this robot vacuum for nine months, and it has been the most disappointing iRobot product I’ve ever used. Comparing it to my previous iRobot i7+, the J9+ falls short in several key areas.
Firstly, the navigation is poor. It seems to create imaginary obstacles based on my floor’s grain pattern and avoids them unnecessarily. It often struggles to find the correct room, getting stuck and aborting its cleaning tasks. Additionally, it has a hard time locating its charging base and docking properly.
In terms of performance, the J9+ is ineffective at picking up dry debris in the kitchen. The side brush fails to reach corners or clean along walls, and it does not pick up pet hair from my carpets at all.
Moreover, the J9+ is louder than the i7+, even when set to low power mode. On a positive note, its compact design allows it to fit under my furniture easily. However, it frequently has trouble emptying its bin, often requiring multiple attempts.
Lastly, it keeps losing connectivity with its base station and the iRobot cloud. I truly wish I could return this product.

I want to start by mentioning that I have two large dogs, so our home is always filled with hair, dirt, grass, and dander on carpets, vinyl floors, and doormats. The ability to choose functions based on the type of flooring has been a game changer. Increasing suction on carpets effectively lifts dander and dog hair (not to mention my own long hair), which has significantly reduced allergens in our home. I also appreciate receiving updates about objects in the way—most often, it’s just a dog toy. Plus, being able to schedule cleaning for specific rooms on certain days and times has really cut down on weekend cleaning. If you have pets, kids, or just a lot of outdoor traffic, I highly recommend this vacuum!

Surprisingly quiet and smart. This is our second iRobot (first was an s9+). This is considerably quieter while vacuuming — we briefly wondered if the vacuum part was broken when it went on its first cleaning run, but it quickly became clear that it was indeed cleaning. This model is also smarter than the s9 about navigating around furniture, avoiding dangling cords and shoelaces, etc. We’ve still had to rescue it a couple times when it got caught in some furniture (it loves to get trapped in the chair and table legs of the dining room set) but it recovers well after we give it a hand. Solid purchase.

Honestly, this vacuum is a game changer. It has impressive variable suction and picks up a surprising amount of debris. It’s particularly good at avoiding tangles and navigating around items you might forget on the floor, and the picture review feature helps identify those objects. While the app does have its quirks, once automated, the robot goes about its job happily. The noise level is quite manageable, and it quickly establishes its cleaning paths. However, the base is where it really falls short. The vacuum inside the self-emptying bin is incredibly powerful, but it doesn’t always empty everything completely. Still, it does manage to clear the bin for the next cleaning session. Just be prepared for a loud noise when it does—it’s like a jet engine taking off! I recommend scheduling it to run during the day when you’re not home. Now I can’t wait to get a Braava mop to go along with it.

This device performs remarkably well, with just a few minor issues. As a pet owner, I used to deal with constant messes, but that’s no longer the case. I walk around barefoot at home, and the difference is noticeable. I run it daily, and once a week, I clear movable items like chairs and slippers so it can clean effectively. It’s fantastic! While it is a bit noisy when it empties, this only lasts for a few seconds at the end of its cycle. The app is also user-friendly, allowing me to adjust suction power and schedule multiple passes. I’m quite pleased with it. Once the price drops again, I plan to get another one for my downstairs area. I’m even considering trying the vacuum mop combo!

Edited 6/5/24: This model claims to avoid pet waste, but it definitely does not! One of my cats vomited a large amount of dry cat food, and the robot just rolled right over it. Cleaning the mess out of the rollers and dustbin was disgusting. Additionally, the camera quality is so poor that it’s hard to discern what it captured during activity reviews for avoidance training. The camera needs ample lighting, so I’ve had to set my smart home lights to turn on during scheduled cleaning times in the middle of the day for the robot to navigate effectively.
I’ve been a loyal Dyson user for the past decade and was eager to purchase the new Dyson Vis Nav, but it’s currently unavailable and the price is outrageous. That led me to explore Roomba. With all the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try, especially since I found it for $300 less than the MSRP on Amazon. The mapping of my home is impressively accurate! I haven’t owned it long enough to evaluate all the features like Dirt Detective, but I do have a few observations.
I think it could use stronger suction. I’m using it on hardwood floors and want it to pick up stray cat litter. While it collects most of it, many granules get left behind in the roller chamber. Also, when the Roomba docks to empty itself, it never completely clears the dust bin of litter. It does handle cat hair and regular dirt without any issues, though. The battery life is excellent; it can clean my entire house on a single charge. The run time is a bit lengthy (2 hours), but that might improve as it adapts to my home. I’m not overly concerned about run time since I schedule it to clean while I’m at work, and it’s always finished by the time I return. I’ll be keeping an eye on Dyson, as I’m likely to switch to their robot once they enhance features and performance. Their model boasts the power of an upright vacuum, a permanent washable filter, and no bags to deal with. For now, this Roomba serves as a good introduction to the world of robotic vacuums.
